A "stand" of Joshua Trees growing next to each other.

This is due to one of 2 ways in which the Joshua Trees re-produce. These could have germinated from seed but probably are sprouts from the underground rhizomes of a larger tree. In this manner, the mother tree clones itself.

The blue berries on the right are from a Juniper Tree.
