One pet peeve I have carried around for years is the improper use of maps or
the complete lack of maps when the subject matter of a book, magazine, web
page, blog or news article is presented via the internet or print media and
no MAPS at all!
Unless you have won the grand prize at the Geography Bee in middle school or
you are a lifelong avid
fan of Nat Geo you have probably misunderstood many a story due to a lack
of:
I am sure their
is no such word in the English language! (Although Nat Geo has a video
program called Mapology!) Reading any article involving a location you have
never had the pleasure of visiting you might very well become "lost" by the time you read
the authors 3rd paragraph!
In the current digital era of the 2nd
Millennium we (authors, bloggers etc.) have NO excuse to leave the reader in a
geographical fog. I will attempt to remedy this common fault in this hobbit
sized tome.
